Curbkeeper

Privacy notice

Last updated October 2026. This notice is written to comply with PIPEDA and Quebec’s Law 25; have it reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

Curbkeeper (“we”) wheels waste carts between your property and the curb. This notice explains what personal information we collect to do that, why, who sees it, and your choices. Questions and requests: hello@curbkeeper.ca. Our privacy officer can be reached at the same address.

What we collect

  • Account and billing: your name, email, phone (optional), language, and a payment-provider customer reference. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and never touch our systems.
  • Property and service details: address, postal code, cart count and types, collection days, where carts are kept, and any access notes or gate code you give us. Gate codes and access notes are encrypted at rest and shown to your assigned Keeper only on service day.
  • Service records: the time each stop was completed, the photo your Keeper took of your carts, an approximate location stamp from the Keeper’s device, and any problem reported.
  • Interest list, contact and applications: what you type into those forms, plus a record of your consent (time and wording) and a one-way hash of your IP address used to deter abuse.
  • Technical: standard server logs held by our hosting provider for a short period. We do not use advertising trackers.

Why

To provide and schedule the service, send you photos and service notices, bill you, answer you, decide where to recruit Keepers next, and keep the service safe. We send marketing email only with your express consent, and every such message has an unsubscribe link (CASL).

Who handles it

Your assigned Keeper sees the service details for your property on service day. Our providers process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and storage, which may be outside Canada), Stripe (payments), and our email provider (Resend). Each is bound by contract to use the data only for us. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Service records and photos for 24 months, then deleted. Account and billing records for as long as you have an account and 7 years afterwards as tax law requires. Interest-list and contact records until you ask us to delete them. Keeper applications for 12 months.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your information, withdraw consent, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information. Write to hello@curbkeeper.ca; we answer within 30 days.

Security

Sign-in links instead of passwords, encrypted access codes, private photo storage with expiring links, least-privilege access for staff and Keepers, and audit logs on administrative actions.
